Is there a special method needed to acquire and enrich samples when using the foodproof® RoboPrep+ workstation?

No special method is required. You can use your method and medium of choice to acquire and enrich samples.

What sample amounts can be used for enrichment?

You can use the same sample volumes as in manual protocols. However, a maximum enrichment of 12 ml can be placed in the foodproof® RoboPrep+ workstation for DNA extraction.

How long does each step take to obtain the results of the analyzed samples?

What manual handling steps are necessary on the foodproof® RoboPrep+ workstation?

Besides loading of the samples, reagents, and consumables there are no further handling steps necessary. The software guides the user through this set-up.

What is the initial cost of investment for a foodproof® RoboPrep+ workstation?

The price depends on the instrument size (we offer 3 different sizes) and options desired. We also offer financing options. For instance, it is possible to purchase an instrument based on a reagent rental model. However, as the foodproof® RoboPrep+ Series has only recently been launched, we are currently offering special introductory prices.

What is the cost of consumables per analysis for the foodproof® RoboPrep+ workstation?

The total costs per analysis depend on how many analyses run per month.
The foodproof® Magnetic Preparation Kit I is designed for 480 reactions.
Disposables (pipet tips, plates, tubes etc.) are available for bulk purchase in the foodproof® Consumables Pack I, which contains all plastic consumables needed for 10 full runs (960 samples), thus saving time as opposed to ordering all consumables separately from different suppliers.

Do you offer a complete solution including the pathogen detection method?

Yes, we offer the all components for a complete solution, including the foodproof® RoboPrep+ workstation, the foodproof® Magnetic Preparation Kit I for sample preparation (DNA extraction and purification), the AOAC-approved foodproof® Salmonella Detection Kit for rapid and specific pathogen detection, as well as real-time PCR instruments.

Are there needs for regular maintenance for the foodproof® RoboPrep+ workstation?

An annual preventative maintenance of the foodproof® RoboPrep+ workstation is recommended.

Yes, we offer service contracts custom tailored to customers’ needs.

Does the robotic workstation have an approval (AOAC, MicroVal)?

Currently, we are developing a ring trial for AOAC and MicroVal approvals in 2011. The foodproof® Salmonella Detection Kit does currently have AOAC approval.
